In April 2015, I embarked on a 2 month over land trip through Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana and Namibia with a rugby charity called Bhubesi Pride. Bhubesi Pride is an innovative program that works with schools and communities in 10 African countries, uniting children through sport, empowering local staff and young leaders and ensuring a sustainable long term impact. The journey allowed me to coach over 1,000 future rugby players and put on 5 amazing rugby tournaments! Click here to find out more about the program and how you can participate.
I originally signed up for the trip because I wanted to see a brighter side of Africa than I normally do while working in various countries with Doctors Without Borders. The trip exceeded all of my expectations. The kids that we encountered were beyond excited to learn how to play rugby and within a few sessions, they were tournament ready! Check out the video to see all of the fun we had!
